It’s one of Dubai’s most prominent neighborhoods that combines waterfront living with a luxurious lifestyle. With its collection of stunning high-rise residences, Dubai Marina has been a community of choice for many residents, but it may not be for everyone.
While there are now many contenders for the title of Dubai’s most prestigious waterfront neighborhood, Dubai Marina was the first to set the standard as the city’s premiere waterfront community. And it continues to attract throngs of residents who aspire for a relaxed waterfront environment while still being close to the city’s top entertainment and leisure destinations, not to mention the beach.
But while the waterfront community’s heady mix of luxury residences, hotels, restaurants, and cafes offers a glamorous way of living, it may not appeal to residents who prefer a quieter lifestyle.
Dubai Marina is perfect for those who love living close to many of Dubai’s top entertainment and leisure attractions while being close to the beach. These lifestyle perks, however, come at a price as the neighborhood is easily at the higher end in terms of cost of living. Being a popular tourist destination, traffic is also an issue. Here are some of the pros and cons of living in Dubai Marina.
Dubai Marina is home to some of Dubai’s most prestigious high-rise apartments. It’s been described as ‘Tallest Block in the World’ because of its collection of the world’s tallest residential buildings. If you want to live in luxury surrounded by breathtaking waterfront views, yachts, and world-class amenities, Dubai Marina is the right fit for you.
The community is at the center of some of Dubai’s most popular nightlife destinations. Residents also have easy access to a wide range of upscale alfresco dining and leisure amenities along the waterfront and in nearby areas. Plus, the beach is just a short walk away along with all the beach activities it offers, including a wide range of watersports. There is also the Dubai Marina Mall, which serves the community with an extensive collection of retail and dining options, or to watch movies.
The community is well-connected to the Dubai Metro and the Dubai Tram, providing an efficient mode of transport to access the rest of the community or city. It is also strategically located along Sheikh Zayed Road, so driving to other locations in Dubai or other emirates is rather straightforward.
If there is one thing that can put off residents from living in Dubai Marina, it’s the traffic. Being a major tourist location, there is a constant flow of people going in and out of the community, contributing to the heavy traffic in the area. Traffic has essentially become a way of life here and it is therefore a big consideration when choosing to live in Dubai Marina.
You will have to pay a premium when renting or buying property in one of Dubai’s most desirable communities. That is also true with the cost of services and amenities in the area. While it is a lot more expensive to live in Dubai Marina compared with other communities in Dubai, it’s not impossible to manage your expenses and find ways to make it more affordable to live here.
While Dubai Marina has an endless list of entertainment and nightlife destinations, your options in terms of parks and playgrounds for children are limited. Also, while there are plenty of nurseries in the area, families wil have to find primary and secondary schools in other nearby communities. This is why Dubai Marina is more popular with young professionals as opposed to families with children.
As one of Dubai’s touristy and entertainment hubs, some people might not be able to tolerate the noise level in the area. It is not uncommon to hear the sound of revving engines of supercars and sports models cruising its narrow streets. If you want peace and quiet in your home and community, Dubai Marina might not be the best place for you.
