If you live in a shared accommodation and value a secure, safe and harmonious living arrangement, understanding how to register co-occupants on Ejari is of essential. Ejari is an online system implemented by the Dubai Land Department (DLD) that regulates and facilitates the rental market in Dubai. The term “Ejari” translates to “my rent” in Arabic, underlining its crucial role as a platform for registering and documenting rental contracts.

With the UAE now allowing unmarried couples and unrelated individuals to live in shared accommodations or in subletting situations, having a clear and transparent registration process has become essential to protect the rights of all occupants and ensure their safety.

This not only safeguards the tenants’ rights, but also assists the government in maintaining accurate demographic data.

Here is a step-by-step guide on how to register co-occupants on Ejari.

  1. Download and Open the Dubai REST App: If you are a new user, the first step is to register your account.
  2.  Log in as an Individual: Select “Individual” and log in using UAE PASS, the government’s digital identity and authentication app.
  3. Select Your Property: From the dashboard, select the property where you are a tenant or owner.
  4. Manage Co-occupants: Click on “Manage Co-occupants” to proceed.
  5.  Add Co-occupants: Click on “Add More” to add co-occupants to the property. You will need to enter the co-occupant’s date of birth and Emirates ID, and then click verify.
  6.  Add Details of All Individuals: Add details of all the individuals living together on the property. This includes all family members and other co-occupants like domestic help.
  7. Delete a co-occupant (if necessary): If you need to remove a co-occupant, select the delete icon and submit.

If the UAE Pass is not available, residents can use their Emirates ID or Residence Visa Number for registration. A valid passport number can be used for co-occupants without Emirates ID.

There is no excuse not to register co-occupants as this process is simple and easy to complete, and, more importantly, it is designed to protect the rights of all parties involved.
